Tips for Maintaining Healthy Dye/Coloured Natural Hair

Colour-treated natural hair

Dying your healthy natural hair is just fine as long as you're prepared to take care of your hair.I have managed to maintain healthy colour-treated hair and have a few suggestions for maintaining healthy dyed natural hair at home. You must be careful about replenishing the protein that permanent colour usually breaks down and moisturise regularly to keep your hair from becoming brittle and breaking.

For healthy colour-treated hair, I suggest:

  1. don't do a permanent colour when a semi-permanent will do. I suggest semi-permanent dyes for covering up greys. Semi-permanent colours are usually more gentle than permanent colours.
  2. weekly deep conditioning treatments. Never skip a treatment.
  3. using moisturising shampoos.
  4. alternating between light protein (like Aphogee 2 Minute Reconstructor) and a moisture condition of your choice each week.
  5. moisturising with a water based leave-in and sealing in the moisture with coconut oil every night.
  6. always sleeping with a satin bonnet to protect your more fragile coloured hair.
  7. protecting your hair from chlorine by wetting hair and applying a leave-in and shower cap before taking a dip.
  8. not overlapping your touch-up on your previously dyed hair if you can help it. It's just as how you wouldn't overlap a relaxer. Overlapping can cause damage to previously dyed hair. This is especially so for a permanent colour.
  9. avoiding using heat. Heat dries out your hair and dyed hair tends to get dry easily. Try roller sets and wrapping the get the curls you desire. And, of course, always use a heat protectant.

  1. Hi this is somewhat of off topic but I was wanting to know if
blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.
I'm starting a blog soon but have no coding know-how so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!

  2. Hair Loss is a common problem however current medical techniques could tackle this problem effectively. FUE or Follicular Unit Extraction is one of the most popular hair transplant techniques in the recent time. In this technique a small round punch is used to get the follicular units from the donor area of the patient. The units get extracted one at a time without a surgical intervention. The hair is shaved completely and extracted hair units are implanted into the bold areas 1 by 1 which gives a good survival rate to the hair follicle at 90%. Due to these developments hair transplantation is having great demand from patients. While choosing the FUE clinics, patients must talk to the doctors in detail and check out the results of previous patients. Jinemed has been performing the FUE technique since 2001.

  3. Thanks a lot for sharing interesting tips about natural hair dying. Hair transplantation consists of two techniques such as conventional strip removal method but it is invasive and the other method is Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and the advantage of this technique is that it doesn’t cause a linear scar.
